About Mount Royal University

A Calgary undergraduate university with roots as Mount Royal College dating to 1910, known for small class sizes and applied, career-focused bachelor's degrees.

Why the Tallman Giving Fund supports them

Gord's longest institutional relationship, running four decades from an introduction through Board Chair Roy Deyell's quarterly business dinners in 1985. He co-chaired the $25 million "Bright Minds, Bright Futures" campaign from 2001 to 2003 — the largest fundraising effort in the institution's history — and then chaired the Mount Royal Foundation Board until stepping down in 2007. The family's giving includes the David Memorial Fund of $207,000, which Mount Royal matched two-to-one to triple the endowment, Military Memorial Bursaries of $25,000, the Dr. John H. Garden Memorial Park, and an 8% estate bequest of roughly $1.3 million.
