Lt. Stanley Tallman — family military heritage

A Personal Connection

Gord's commitment to Support Our Troops is deeply personal. His father, William Guy Tallman, served with the Black Watch Royal Highlander Regiment during World War II and was wounded at the Battle of Verrières Ridge in Normandy on July 19, 1944 — one of the bloodiest engagements of the Canadian campaign.

William passed away in 1951 at just 33, leaving five young children. This sacrifice became the foundation for the family's lifelong dedication to military families.

In 2014, the death of Corporal Nathan Cirillo at the National War Memorial in Ottawa reignited Gord's commitment, leading him to become actively involved with Support Our Troops, the official charitable cause of the Canadian Armed Forces.
