About Christ Church, Burritt's Rapids
A small Anglican church on the Rideau in eastern Ontario, built in the Gothic revival style between 1831 and 1832 on land donated by David Burritt and consecrated in 1834. It serves the Burritt's Rapids community together with its historic burying ground.
Why the Tallman Giving Fund supports them
The church of Gord's family roots in eastern Ontario, and the giving reflects that. 5,560 RBC shares worth $500,533 have been donated, with a further 1,100 shares ($105,831) directed to the cemetery — close to $1 million in total once dividends are counted. The family funded $30,000 of cemetery gates and marked his mother's and father's 100th birthdays with $5,000 gifts, and in 2017 established the Helping Needy fund in memory of Marian Tallman and Betty MacDonald.
